Winter Conference

Our Winter Conference will be Saturday, January 25th. We need to find a location for it. Some possible locations are:

• ROOTED Armory Café, Somerville - $200/4 hr minus cost of any food purchased - https://artsatthearmory.org/venue-rental/public-events/
  • MBTA Green line a 7 minute walk, Red line a 20 minute walk, MBTA bus close by, free parking on site
  • Wheelchair accessible. Seats 52. Has tables, wifi and a projector. Bathroom connected to cafe
• Cambridge Community Center - $70/hr? - https://www.cambridgecc.org/rent-space.html
  • MBTA/Parking a 10 minute walk
• Somerville Kennedy School - $50/hr? - https://somerville.k12.ma.us/district-leadership/central-administration/finance-and-facilities/rent-facilities
  • Near public transit, ample parking. Library is not close to the entrance.
• Somerville Public Library, Central Branch - Free
  • On several MBTA bus lines, limited parking near the high school and city hall
• Somerville Public Library, West Branch - Free
  • On MBTA and bus lines. No parking
• Cambridge Public Library, Central Sq. Branch
  • Near public transit, ample parking. Need a resident to book
• Lowell Public Library - Free
  • Ample parking

Video Newsletter/Podcast

• Video quality of Jitsi has started to suffer. Would be good to find a better streaming/recording alternative.
• Pirate news recording scheduled for Sundays, 7pm with go-live at 7:30pm. Unless changed

Voter Outreach 2024

• Letters asking for pirate voters/election dates go out to cities/town this week.
• Followups as necessary
• Snail Mail supporters in December to tell them about:
  • Conference
  • Call for officer nominees
  • Municipal elections
  • Other events/efforts
  • Donate/join our mailing list

Summary

In Nov election, Joe got 22% of vote, which is the highest of any pirate running in a partisian race in MA, and perhaps even in the US.

• National conference organizing is just starting.
